Who’s on Threads? Meta’s Threads app hit 100 million users this week which is a record for a new app. But…data from Sensor Tower and Similarweb indicates that the platform has seen a drop off in attention from users. These two sources suggest that daily active users have dropped by as much as 25% while time spent on the app has gone from 20 minutes down to 8-10 minutes. I was never active on Twitter and hated the “bros” culture so I personally find Threads to be much more enjoyable. We’ll see if it is really here to stay or just another passing fad.
Looks like Buzzsprout is continuing to improve upon its Cohost AI tool. Not only will it draft up titles, descriptions, and episode transcripts, but as of this week, it’ll also create three tweets and a draft blog post for each new episode. Cohost AI is $10 extra a month on an existing hosting plan but as a user myself, I find it’s worth it. Definitely take it as a starting place and not the final product though!
According to Sara Guaglione from Digiday, U.S. podcast growth doesn’t seem to be slowing down and is attracting a global audience. International listeners seem to be tuning into U.S. podcasts but are also embracing global shows. iHeartPodcasts says that their international audience gw around 42% from 2021 to 2022 and about 20% of downloads are coming from outside of the U.S. Canada, Europe, and Australia seem to be leading the pack in downloads.
