As My Cultura nears its third year, the podcast network is increasing its output. With insights from Nielsen's Hispanic Audiences in Focus study, it's noted that Latino listeners are 13% more inclined towards podcasts compared to the overall U.S. audience—a trend expected to rise as 49% of Hispanic podcast enthusiasts began their listening journey within the last two years. Aiming at English, Spanglish, and Spanish speakers aged 20-30, My Cultura plans to expand its portfolio to 40 podcasts, addressing a significant yet often overlooked audience as podcasting's popularity surges worldwide.
The Actively Established Podcast Report for March 2024 defines an "Actively Established Podcast" as an interview-centric show with at least 100 episodes, released every 10 days or less, and not hosted by celebrities or major media networks. Out of 2,983,018 total podcasts, only 397,703 remain active, showing no growth in active podcast numbers since July 2020—a reduction of 309,000 active podcasts from 2020.
Ausha recently released a study detailing the Apple Podcasts search algorithm, highlighting advantages for podcasters incorporating keywords into their titles and descriptions.
The Joe Rogan Experience made headlines with its Spotify-exclusive deal in 2020. While the YouTube channel continued showcasing brief promotional snippets, the return of full episodes, including a much-anticipated interview with Kat Williams, has attracted over a million daily views, amassing more than 22 million views in just two weeks. This marks a significant return, highlighting the growth of YouTube's video podcasting audience since 2020.
Last year, Kast Media Inc., facing allegations of failing to pay podcasters millions, declared bankruptcy. The filing reveals debts including over $456,398.57 to comedian and podcaster Theo Von, with Chatty Broads being the largest creditor, owed $478,184.62. You can read the latest here.
Blubrry's latest statistics introduce a new category tracking regions with significant listening growth in February. South Korea leads with a 700% increase, followed by the Vatican City, where podcast listening has surged by 524%.
