Somehow February is starting to feel longer than January did. How is that possible? It’s been a relatively quiet week in the podcasting landscape. Let’s get into it.
Surprisingly (at least to me), Joe Rogan tops the list as the most popular podcast among Black listeners in the US, but impressively, six out of the top ten podcasts feature Black hosts, including "The Breakfast Club" with Charlamagne Tha God securing the second spot.
In early January, Audacy faced financial challenges and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas has now approved their recovery plan. This strategy aims to significantly reduce debt by over 80% and build a stronger financial foundation, setting the stage for sustainable growth. David J. Field, Audacy's CEO, views this approval as a pivotal moment, enhancing the company's ability to pursue further growth and improve its financial health.
When it comes to engaging with podcasts, listeners are keen on connecting with their favorite hosts and shows via social media. A significant 50% of weekly podcast listeners follow their preferred podcast personalities on social platforms. Specifically, Instagram is the preferred platform for 57% of these followers, marking an increase from its third-place ranking of 52% in the spring survey. Following Instagram are YouTube (52%), Facebook (48%), and Twitter/X (32%), with TikTok also seeing an increase from 24% to 29% in the fall survey. Younger listeners, particularly those aged 18-34, are more active in following their favorite podcast hosts on social media, with 68% of them doing so, compared to 55% of those aged 35-49 and 40% of the 50+ demographic.

On The Growth Mindset Gal, Allie interviews interviews the aspirational Gemma Luzz. Gemma is a mindset coach for entrepreneurs. Her journey started in January of 2021 when she made the commitment and decision that, by the end of the year, she was leaving her unfulfilling corporate job. With calculated risks and mindset shifts, she was able to leave 11 months later. But, she had no clue how to put this burning mission and vision she had in her head—helping women create their own realities and live life on their terms—into action.
