Be Well Sis is a podcast dedicated to providing resources for Black millennial women to be their best selves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Hosted by Dr. Cassandre Dunbar, the conversations are candid, informative, and unapologetically Black.
Meet Dr. Cassandre Dunbar, Host of “Be Well Sis”
Dr. Cassandre Dunbar wears multiple hats with grace and purpose. A mother to two young boys, a medical doctor, wife, educator, Wellness writer, and the voice behind the Be Well, Sis Podcast, she harbors a deep passion for the wellness and self-care of Black millennial women.
Her journey into wellness took a personal turn shortly after medical school when she became pregnant with her first child. This life event heightened her awareness about the importance of being mindful of what she consumed and applied to her body, a concern that grew when her child was born with various sensitivities and allergies. Through her research, Dr. Dunbar recognized a significant disconnect between her medical education and the comprehensive understanding of true wellness. This realization set her on a path to seek holistic well-being for herself—mind, body, and spirit.
Dr. Dunbar quickly noticed the lack of representation and often outright exclusion of Black women in wellness spaces, despite the fact that they disproportionately suffer from adverse medical outcomes. Motivated by this disparity, she has committed herself to curating and sharing resources that specifically address and support those who feel overlooked in the wellness conversation.
